Novel Ideas

One day soon, zee books will dance across shelves far and wide.  I’m working to push past my resistance to the Writer’s Destiny, and as I do, a couple of opuses have been in the works:

The Last Enlightenment

Writing first draft now

6 days in to a hugely transforming 10 day meditation retreat, I was hit with a lightening bolt of inspiration for the next novel.  The Last Enlightenment stars James Pryde – an everyman who awakens to an alternative way of viewing the world, and gets ignited onto the path of true enlightenment.  Unable to define what he is seeking, yet unwaveringly committed to his quest, James finds himself basking at the feet of Gurus, jumping into every conceivable consciousness retreat, running spiritual meet-ups, merging with a wild cast of like-minded characters, and otherwise obsessing about his newfound consciousness, all but wearing his “Enlightenment or Bust” motto on his sleeve.  But something magical is happening in his world, yet it doesn’t seem to be happening to him – everyone around him starts popping into Absolute Truth.  From ashrams to Walmarts, Singapore to St. Louis, everyone in the world starts piercing the veil of awakening.  And yet the one who might possibly seek it the most in this radically transforming world can’t see to truly awaken.  The novel follows James as his frustrations and motivations increase, and he watches everyone around him find the space that he would die to reach.

Angels and Mirrors

100% complete, edited, with cover art and a marketing plan.  She’s ready to rock and roll, yet the publishing deal fell through and we’re back to square one.  Only the future knows.

Angels and Mirrors is about redefining what truth and memory really mean, and accepting the notion that control is an illusion. It’s about the most frightening elements of self-discovery, and the ability to see everything we have in our lives as a self-manifested gift. It’s one woman’s whirlwind struggle with understanding and owning horrendous images that may or may not have transpired, and learning to love life regardless of her perception of reality — or to give up and self-destruct.

The Secrets of the Universe

Very much a work in progress.

Lovingly dubbed a Fictional Memoir, The Secrets of the Universe unravels the mysteries of modern day shamanism.  The story follows Kat (I know, I’m obvious on this one), a corporate-climbing big city hot shot who lands in the Amazon, partakes in sacred shamanic ceremonies, and goes headfirst into a full scale existential crisis.  Secrets won’t just illuminate the profundity of shamanic ceremonies and revelations, but also the aftermath of a woman catapulted into her very own spiritual awakening.  Dozens of enthenogenic visions, encounters with an Enlightened Master, and a chance meeting with a bona fide Soulmate scratch the surface.  This is an all-out spiritual epic.

I also write short stories and poetry, which will be strewn about the blog + internets.
